Getting family member to follow-through
I have been doing a lot of reading and learning about dementia (Much of it from the AlzBetter Videos) and feel I can help my mother, but every time I tell her what to do, she says “OK” but then never does anything. How do I get her to actually listen and then do it?

Hi Zarima,
I understand exactly what you are going through. When I first started coaching families about dementia, I would give them a bunch of things to do, knowing that each one of them could help. What I learned was that I needed to slow down, pick one of the biggest problems and then break it down into small steps. Most people want to do what we say, but they are so overwhelmed by the situation that they end up doing nothing.
